Disadvantage of Air Cooler – Why Air Cooler is not good for health

In Indian middle class families who don’t afford to buy an air conditioner, the Air cooler is the best alternative device for relief from heat in summer. This relatively cheap device is excellent for comfort in hot weather. This device is widely used to meet the needs of AC in Indian middle class families.

What is Air Cooler

The air cooler is an electronic device to cool indoor and outdoor space in the house. This device basically used cold water and existing warm air to cool a room. Basically, Air Cooler increases air flow over the object for cooling. Air flow can be moved vertically and horizontally.

The air Cooler is a portable device that is easy to move from one room to another room. Most of the air coolers have bottom wheels to move anywhere. It can be installed anywhere, indoor or outdoor, and it just requires electricity and cold water. The main part of the Air Cooler is a big motor fan to circulate cool air. Ice can also be used with water in the air cooler. It is the most comfortable and affordable air cooling device instead of air conditioners.

Why Air Cooler is not good for health

Many people ask, is air cooler harmful for health? Here we have briefly discussed the disadvantages of Air Cooler. Check air cooler side effects as below:

Air Cooler causes Asthma:

As the air cooler works on in the evaporative process, and cool air directly flows into the body, it can cause breathing problems. If any asthma patient uses an air cooler for a long time, it’s dangerous for their health. We advise Asthma patients do not stay in front of an Air Cooler.

Air Cooler causes Body Pain:

Air coolers can increase muscle stiffness and body pain, especially if the body is exposed to cold air flow for a long time.

Constant air flow from the air cooler is responsible for body muscle pain. Cold air can cause muscles to contract and tighten, causing body aches and pains throughout the day.

Air Cooler causes Allergies:

If air conditioners are not cleaned and maintained properly, people with certain allergies or sensitivities to mold or pollen may experience additional symptoms as a result of prolonged exposure.

Disadvantage of Air Cooler

Apart from the health risks, the Air Cooler has some disadvantages. Here the disadvantages are discussed:

How Does An Air Cooler Work - Air Cooler working principal

Evaporative cooling is the main working principal of an Air Cooler. Inside the body of air-cooler covered by a cooling pad like sponge. Continuously pumping water to the wet surface by water pump. A big motor fan rotates in the middle of the air cooler body. Warm air passes into these cold environments and circulates the cool air by air flow. Air flow can be controlled by fan regulators.

A Deep Dive into the components of an Evaporative Air-Cooler

The air-cooler is assembled of various components to ensure the best performance of the cooling device. The names and functions of the components are as follows:

  • Water Storage Tank: Water is the main part of Evaporative cooling. Water tank stores water to evaporation. The size of the tank may be different depending on the air-cooler capacity.
  • Fan: This cooling appliance has a rolling fan. This is the main part of the unit. The fan rotates and pulls existing warm air from the room and circulates it onto the wet surface. Once the air becomes cool, it blows out into the room through the exit vent.
  • Cooling Pad: A cooling pad is a medium that is wetted with water. Then circulate all the warm air into the cooling pad. This component helps to cool the warm air and decrease moisture from air. Circulated water drops back into the tank.
  • Water Pump: Water pump circulate water to whole cooling pad from the water tank.
  • Exhaust Vents Controler: Exhaust Vents Controller allows the user to control  exhaust vents to adjust cool air flow direction.
  • Controller Switch: Controller Switch allows the user to control fan speed, water level adjustment and power off or on.
  • Power Cable: The power cable supplies power to the controller and electrical components.
  • Drainage Hole: A drainage hole is required to empty the water tank.
